It was inevitable, but of course we were surprised (or just in plain ordinary Canadian denial, having procrastinated in getting snow tires) when we got our first real snowfall during the night of Nov. 21.
Huge snowflakes, floating gently, silently from the dark sky and glistening in the soft glow of street lights, piled in soft mounds on branches and covered the ground. Slick driving conditions notwithstanding, you had to be in awe!
Snow from midnight skies:
soft flakes covered earth’s dry crust
like sacred manna
that once dazzled faithful eyes.–
Winter’s come in mystic guise!
And a little winter morning mystery:
Now, who’s ready to go “walking in the winter Wonderland”?
The first snowflakes are so pretty 🙂

They certainly are, Laura! So are the later ones, when they spruce up the tired snow. I’m looking forward to seeing your upcoming winter pictures! 🙂

I’m looking forward to seeing the Catalina Mtns. covered in snow…from down here in the valley, of course. There’s nothing like 60 degree weather and snow…over there. 🙂

Of course the Arizona Lady in Winter must rub it in! 😉 Well, I’m very happy for you to be able to enjoy that snowy view while you run around in shorts and T-shirt. 🙂 Hmmm, maybe one day I’ll try it myself… Thanks for reading and commenting. 🙂

Ah, but you’ll be the one with the smug grin next June. 🙂

Haha, I will indeed! 🙂 I’ve visited Phoenix and Tucson some years ago in April (perfect!), but I have promised myself I won’t go there from June to October because it gets TOO HOT! 🙂 So, my advice is for you to enjoy what you have now, even if you consider it to be–ouch!– a bit of a cold spell! 🙂

Oh I definitely will! This past summer was absolutely brutal. Especially since I now have a companion to walk. I love that I can go outside in the middle of the day. It’s the little things.

A lovely post – our first dusting of snow has already melted, but it was such a beautiful sight.

Lovely post! Our snow here in Saint Lazare, Quebec melted after the first day but at least we managed to sneak in some sledding in the backyard before it all melted. Have a wonderful day! 🙂

Thanks, Malaika! Well, our spectacular snow-scene was short-lived also. However, with just dreary gray skies and sometimes rain, we can still get around without putting on our big snow boots… 🙂 A wonderful day to you too! 🙂

I don’t care for the cold – ‘s why I left the East Coast. But my boy would be so jealous if he knew. It was HOT today in Southern CA, 86 degrees!!
